You deserve to get the most out of each and every moment, and my goal as your therapist is to create a safe space in which you can heal, grow, and discover what brings you peace in the darkest of times. I am a firm believer that even though there will always be things in our lives we cannot control, how we choose to react is far more important. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as a registered yoga teacher, and I draw from various schools of thought to create a treatment plan that is personalized and flexible to ensure each client’s needs are met. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, compassionate, and non-judgmental, while my theoretical perspective draws from Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Existential-Humanistic Theory. I have also completed training in hypnosis and am in the process of completing a more advanced training program. I can provide therapy in either English or Spanish, and specialize in working with adolescents and adults in individual sessions. I am experienced in assisting clients dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, body image issues, grief, trauma, chronic pain, addiction, LGBTQ issues, and life transitions. Use of yoga in therapy is up to the client, and is strictly used when it would be beneficial emotionally and mentally. I do not teach it to give clients a workout – it is a therapeutic tool for healing, acceptance, connection, and self-discovery. Regardless of your health status or physical capabilities, yoga can be a powerful way to increase positive emotions, relieve anxiety, be more present, and strengthen the connection between body, mind, and spirit.
I can honestly say that being a therapist is the most fulfilling career I ever could have dreamed of because the connection I develop with clients is meaningful, warm, and genuine. I was fortunate to be born and raised in one of the most diverse areas of the country (southwest Houston), so I have a deep respect and appreciation for all people, including those who are different from me in race, religion, and origin. It is important to me that clients also know that I am body-positive, which means I believe every single body, whatever its size, age, gender, capabilities, or health status, is a wonderful body. I truly enjoy assisting others learn how to love themselves unconditionally and get the most out of their lives, regardless of their circumstances
