Katie Barnes, LCPC
Katie believes everyone has their own story. In congruence with Narrative therapy, she feels clients can be empowered to become the author of their own story. “Your past doesn’t have to imprison; you can learn how to live the best current and future version of yourself. I would be honored to be your therapist as you progress through your journey.” Katie specializes in working with clients who have previous trauma, abuse, or injustices. She offers unconditional positive regard, models healthy boundaries, transparency and genuine empathy with clients. She is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) – bilateral eye movements that reprogram how our brains remember trauma. Katie is Gottman Couples Method trained and enjoys working with couples and families. She is a culturally competent counselor and considers herself an LGBTQ+ ally.
Modalities: ART, CBT, Mindfulness, DBT, Gottman or Narrative Therapy
She sees adults – individuals and couples, some teens/adolescents who may struggle with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia or relationship difficulties.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends in the Idaho outdoors – riding horses, 4 wheeling and hiking. She plans to expand her practice to equine therapy in the future.
Katie has been featured on Psychology Today here.
